During my time as a beauty advisor at Sephora, one of the most frequent requests I got from clients was:

I want a full coverage foundation, but I don't want it to feel heavy!

Now, if you know a thing or two about makeup, you know that finding a good match for someone on these terms can be challenging - everyone has their own idea of what they consider to be "full coverage" or what feels "heavy." On top of that, some clients even insist that the foundation gives them a natural look.

While application is key to achieving a natural makeup look, I was ecstatic when NARS released the All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation last year. I couldn't have been happier to have clients try on this product and watch them fall in love with its coverage, finish, and yes, weightlessness!

Its light formula is possible because instead of containing heavy moisturizers and other ingredients, it is more concentrated in pigment color, giving it a solid, natural finish. The formula is really innovative considering that most full coverage foundations to this day still have a thick, creamy consistency. It is designed to last 16 hours, and is meant to reduce discoloration and redness, giving a uniform skintone once applied. Again, that is possible because it had a lot of pigment/color in its formula.

Billo Baby, Bay Area Makeup Artist, wearing Nars Foundation in Shade Punjab

Each shade in the line is named after a major city across the globe, taking on the complexion of the region's people. My shade is Punjab, which I find to be very fitting as I am Punjabi, and is a medium golden peachy color. I personally love this foundation because it's great for all skin types so it's a foundation I can use all year long, as my skin changes with the seasons. Make sure to moisturize if you have dry skin - this foundation can become patchy if your skin is dry, and it will no spread properly, as with any foundation. Only a few drops are needed due to its concentrated formula, and (depending on how many pumps you use) when applied with a flat top kabuki brush, you can achieve a variety of looks ranging form natural, medium, to full on glam.

  • Shade Range: Medium

  • Color Family: Golden, Peach

  • Coverage: Full coverage

  • Consistency: Liquid, Lightweight

  • Pigment Level: High

  • Finish: Natural, gets patchy if you have dry skin so make sure to moisturize!

  • Wear Time: Longwear, Long-lasting, 16-hour

  • Application Tool: Flat Top Kabuki Brush

Overall, a major win for next generation foundations! If you try it out, I know you'll fall in love with it too.

XOXO,

BilloBaby
